[Flashback Friday] Bakuman.

Flashback Friday is a weekly post where I talk about a book, manga, or anime series which I’ve seen years ago. This is more like me reminiscing on stuff I come across way back then.

Author: Ohba Tsugumi | Illustrator: Obata Takeshi
Manga Publisher: Shueisha (Weekly Shōnen JUMP)
Licensed by: Viz Media
Anime Director: Kasai Kenichi, Akitaya Noriaki
Series Composition: Yoshida Reiko
Animation Production: J.C. Staff
Moritaka Mashiro and Akito Takagi are pretty much foils of each other. Mashiro, an average 9th grade student but talented artist, and Takagi, an overall advanced 9th grader and aspiring writer. After great convincing, Takagi convinces Mashiro to join him in becoming the greatest mangakas Japan has ever seen. Takagi, with his gift of writing, hopes to become a successful mangaka, and Mashiro, with his gift of art, hopes to marry the girl of his dreams, Azuki Miho.

Bakuman. is perhaps one of the few anime (and manga) that I’ll always be fond of watching (and reading) over and over. In fact, Bakuman. 2 will forever be in my fave anime list. It involves JUMP’s core values of friendship, hard work and victory, executes those values well, adds unforgettable characters, and wraps it up in a very inspiring story of 2 boys achieving a dream in 10 years time.

Bakuman - Chapter 176 (END): Dreams and Reality

I was actually expecting a more interesting title but going back to the title of the first chapter (which I have read a round 5 times O.O) isn't really a bad idea. Actually I think it was a great idea. Makes me feel nostalgic(:

Bakuman - Chapter 175: Release Date and the Night Before

A couple of days ago, I read from another blog that Bakuman is finally coming to its end. Should I be happy? Sad? I don't really know but one thing's for sure, I was expecting it.

Bakuman - Chapter 174: How it should be and How it ends

Reading this chapter practically made me smile. Particularly the part where the students were speculating about Reversi ending soon. Seriously.

Bakuman - Chapter 173: Moment and Last Volume

I don't really know what to feel about this chapter. Somehow it was good but at the same time I didn't like it.

Bakuman - Chapter 172: Miho and Naho

I guess Bakuman really is about achieving one's dream through hard work. After reading this chapter, I really have no idea what to feel about it. Should I be glad? Sad? Angry? OR what?

Bakuman - Chapter 171: Microphone and Script

Looks like Bakuman just turn from lives of a partner mangaka to the life of a seiyuu. Am I interested? I'm a huge fan of seiyuus, but no, I'm not interested.

Bakuman - Chapter 170: Celebrity and Popularity

A new arc finally begins and it still focuses on Miho's chances of getting the role of Naho. Now the question rises again, will Miho get the role?

Bakuman - Chapter 169: Voices and Responses

So the conclusion for Mashiro and Miho's issue has finally ended and it definitely is a heartwarming chapter.

Bakuman - Chapter 168: Correction and Declaration

I sure find this chapter really good. AND once again, I liked Miho(:

Bakuman - Chapter 167: Foolish Words and A Word

I don't know why, but for reasons I'm getting tired of this arc but this chapter sure was great. Rather, I was really happy to see an all fired-up Fukuda once again.

Bakuman - Chapter 166: Rumors and Articles

Okay. Now the more reason why Miho won't get the part.

Bakuman - Chapter 165: Practicing and Charging Up

AND you all thought it's all over.

Bakuman - Chapter 164: Decisions and Delight

While reading this, I'm really fired up for the decision and after reading it, I was like: seriously!?!?!?!!!!

Bakuman - Chapter 163: Confirmation and Consent

FINALLY!

The question is: Is Reversi getting an anime or what?

Bakuman - Chapter 162: Hot Spring and Two Nights

Lots of things happen and this chapter still made me feel warm(:

Bakuman – Chapter 161: Breather and Party

Ahhh… So we're back to the battle between Reversi and ZombieGun. There's nothing really wrong with it but somehow it is exciting yet a little tiring already. The short arc about Hiramaru and Aoki seemed interesting and was relaxing which was probably the reason why it was brought up, to relax the reader from the intense battle between Ashirogi and Niizuma.

Bakuman – Chapter 160: Doing Your Best and Nine Hundred Thousand

I really enjoyed this chapter most especially Hiramaru’s proposal to Aoki-san :D

Bakuman – Chapter 159: Tempo and Ferris Wheel

After the short two chapter-arc about Reversi’s weakness, I was sudden because of its early end but this chapter has certainly made up for it because this chapter main centers around one of my favorite mangaka in Bakuman and his oh-so scary editor.

Bakuman – Chapter 158: Drawn Out and In One Go

I’d say that after last chapter’s sudden problem, things instantly worked out just like that. And I seriously thought that Reversi’s weakness was going to be a big arc. Well, that sucks.
