[Flashback Friday] Chihayafuru

Flashback Friday is a weekly post where I talk about a book, manga, or anime series I’ve finished. This is more like me reminiscing on stuff I come across back then.

English Title: Chihayafull
Studio: Madhouse
Genre: josei, game, sports, drama, slice of life, romance
Episodes: 25 (S1); 25 (S2)
Anime Director: Asaka Morio (Card Captor Sakura, Nana)

Chihaya is a lighthearted tomboy, who's not especially good at anything in particular. Her dream has always been for her sister (an aspiring model) to become the number one beauty of Japan, or perhaps of the world. But then one day she meets someone who tells her that a dream is something that should concern only herself—and something she has to work hard for as well.

At the same time, Chihaya discovers a passion for the old Japanese game hyakunin isshu, also called "karuta".

Seiyuu Appreciation: Is that a question? Then I'll happily answer it. Pick from one of three choices: (1) Kida Masaomi, (2) Kida Masaomi, (3) Kida Masaomi!

After a long break on this kind of post, I've come back with a pretty interesting seiyuu to talk about. Probably the seiyuu I consider to be my fave one out there.

Chihayafuru 2: it's the first episode of Sumire-furu!

While watching this episode, my face honestly look like Mashiro's at episode 1 of Bakuman. 3 XD This first episode was just great.

Most Popular Fall Anime

Fall 2011 anime offered a lot of interesting new series and sequels. A number of people are going over Chihayafuru, Fate/Zero and Mirai Nikki as the top anime for this season. Personally, I can't completely disagree since I love both Chihayafuru and Mirai Nikki and as for Fate/Zero, I haven't watch it.
